With less than two weeks to go until the announcement of the nominees for the 8th Annual METRO FM Music Awards, the station will spend the first weekend in October in Nelson Mandela Bay with a host of charity activities and parties planned as part of the countdown to the Awards which take place in the city on Saturday 24 November.The action packed weekend kicks off on Thursday 4th October with the official Media and VIP METRO FM Music Awards nominees launch to celebrate the Awards return to Nelson Mandela Bay and to announce the nominees for 2007.On Friday 5th October there will be a CSI (Corporate Social Investment) tour to view the progress on the housing project which METRO FM & Habitat for Humanity had launched last year committing to building 10 houses in Nelson Mandela Bay.Saturday 6th October is the Big Day with the Public launch of the 8th Annual METRO FM Music Awards with a rocking party and all day live broadcast at St. Georges Beach. The weekend culminates on Sunday 7th October with a fund raising car wash at Embizweni Square, New Brighton."We’re excited to be coming to Nelson Mandela Bay for the 8th METRO FM Music Awards as it feels like we’re coming home," says METRO FM Station Manager Matona Ntshona. "I think the city can expect a great musical weekend with a conscience."All eyes will be on who makes the nominee shortlist for the 2007 METRO FM Music Awards. This year the process has changed with leading music journalists, critics and METRO FM DJs deciding on the nominees in each of the 16 categories. Following the announcement METRO FM listeners will then get to vote for who they believe are the best artists in each category. The categories for the 2007 METRO FM Music Awards are as follows:
