Let us go out there and show the world that we are passionate about our football and blow those vuvuzelas.”

TSHISA LOVE???

I'm wondering....Sunday Sun reported about Bongani & Mbali taking their on screen relationship off screen....Mbali Mlotshwa Bongani MasondoManaka Ranaka Ntuthuko Mdletshe.Sunday World had the same thing but their story was about Manaka and her on screen live in lover, Ntuthuko. So, is it a coincidence or were things really hott in Tshisa??? Hayi mina I don't know what to believe anymore...actually I give up. Anyway ke, they went as far as saying that Ntuthuko is the father of Manaka's baby but Manaka is even denying ukuthi she's preggers....wow, she certainly has gained a lotta weight on the tummy area then.

Andile Ncube's new CD

In the beginning SABC created ONE and gave it multiple presenters. And the SHOW was without form, and void; and boredom was at the face of each viewer. And the weeping of the viewers moved upon the ears of the producers. And a voice said, “Let there be light” and there was ANDILE!
No, you’re not reading Genesis, Chapter 1; just Chapter 1 of my interview with Andile Ncube. Yes, the same one who has as much grandmas in his admirers list, as he does young chicks. The mama’s want him as their son in law, the chickitas want him as their baby daddy and the brothas want him as their adviser. They want to know how he does it. “How does he exude so much respect and yet look so sexy?” “How does he manage to keep the fun loving youth of Mzansi sitting down for a full hour on a Friday NITE?” How does he do it? They wanted to know and my mission was to find out. This is only Part 1 of what will most probably be, your first real look into The Man That Is Andile Ncube: I know that the day I went to meet Andile was one of my luckiest days because so many wonderful things happened to me throughout that day and the first thing that I saw when I got to Urban Brew to see him, con
firmed that the day was gonna end exactly as it started. Knowing Mzansi celebs (Khanyi & Kelly excluded), I had been stressing about the possibility that he may not want to talk openly about his “affair” with “Kenneth Mashaba’s wife” and that was one of the things I wanted him to talk about SO.....the sight of the petite beauty dropping him off in a snazzy black Beemer as I drove in, was definitely one of the highlights of my evening. I was like “Ya! Ndanibhaqa!” (Gotcha!) Ag shame, I should not have stressed. He is anything but secretive about his love for the talented actress.

CHIEFS VS DOWNS

Chiefs VS Downs

Vs

DJ-ABO VS ZOBA
WOZE DURBAN

Durban - The finalists of the Telkom Knockout Cup will get an early dress rehearsal on Wednesday when Kaizer Chiefs host Mamelodi Sundowns in a Premier Soccer League match at King's Park in Durban.
Both teams won their respective Telkom semi-finals on the weekend to set up the final the sponsors would have dreamt of between Sundowns, the richest and strongest line-up in the country, and giants Chiefs, the best-supported.
Not that Wednesday's PSL game will not be any less competitive than the Cup final. Sundowns, in fourth place
, are well-poised to begin their Championship push. Chiefs will be mildly concerned at their mediocre start in the PSL race, and need a victory to buck up their 11th position.
Then there is also the psychological advantage to be gained going into the Cup final.
Of the two sides in the Telkom semis this past weekend, Chiefs were the slightly more convincing in their 1-0 victory over tough Bloemfontein Celtic. Like Chiefs, Sun
downs were made to struggle against Free State Stars to run out 2-1 winners.
WHO'S THE MAN!!! WE'LL SEE!!!
Itumeleng Khune OR Brian Baloyi
DJ-ABO OR ZOBA
All of you guys you are mans because of the goalless draw and good saves from KHUNE and BALOYI

Sonia Mbele

The way that Sonia Nomthandazo Mbele brings the admirable Ntombi Khumalo to life with such creativity makes Generations even more of a pleasure to watch. Born in Natalspruit and raised by her mother in the North West Province, it was at a early stage of her life that Sonia discovered her love for acting. At the age of five, Sonia was already a real performer, always wanting to entertain friends, family and anybody who was willing to watch. When Sonia was a teenager they moved to Vosloorus, East of Johannesburg. In 1994, Sonia matriculated at North View High School in Highlands North. At school Sonia was a top student, a hard worker and a natural leader who excelled tennis, sang in the church and school choirs. Sonia was formally introduced to the acting world, when she joined a theatre group during her high school years. Although Sonia’s dream was to attend a drama school after matric, her family encouraged her to qualify in public relations instead. When Sonia finished her PR diploma, she proudly handed her certificate to her mother, and immediately approached an acting agency. Two days later she was cast in a Beacon commercial, and also as a lead in the SABC 2 drama, Phamokate.Sonia has since become one of South Africa’s most sought after actors. well done boks

Salute, the Springboks. Four years ago, if anyone in South Africa suggested the Springboks would have been the world champs in the next edition of the world cup, they would have been mocked. Jake White said it though. He was right.
The victory of the Springboks over the English makes our triumph even sweeter. I don't like English national teams. The English people also have a lot to say which makes me to hate their national teams even more. One thing I did not like though is for us not playing the All Blacks before we were crowned. However a triumph is a triumph. It's been 12 long years. My blood shall forever be green. Up the mighty boks.
Congratulations to the Springboks!!

Durban musicians

Durban musicians have been breathing life into the kwaito style called, unsurprisingly, Durban Kwaito Music or DKM. Durban based producer, Zakhele Madida combined forces with an ambitious young man, Thokozani Ndlovu, better known as L’vovo Derrango to give new life to kwaito. Not only did Madida and L’vovo break new ground, artists such as T’zozo and Professor have pushed the same envelope and introduced another artist from Durbs by the name of Character following in the trend setters’ foot steps.
Kwaito music has been around for many years and has been for a long time associated with South Africa’s youth culture. Artists such as Boom Shaka, Bongo Maffin, TKZee, M’du Masilela, Joe Nina and Arthur Mafokate have contributed so much to the genre, and now a new breed has taken kwaito a step further. Judging from the hype surrounding his name, L’vovo Derrango is making a name for the new sound of kwaito and has been enjoying radio airplay and countless live performances.
Taking a look at the artist’s music, L’vovo and his production team have done quite a lot to grab people’s attention. Only with his first release, the artist managed to secure a space for his name in the music industry and since then the brother has been rocking left, right and center with his stylish kwaito hits such as ‘Mayang’sukela’ and ‘Resista’ which have both dominated the airwaves heavily.
L’vovo’s producer, Zakhele Madida, said DKM is a mixture of house beats blended with kwaito lyrics – which is something that has never been offered to the kwaito fanatics in the past. “I put together a house song with pertaining lyrics, positioned them satisfactorily and also harmonized the chorus but still gave the song the kwaito feel,” he said.
For Madida, the reason for introducing this new trend was to expand kwaito as a genre and open new opportunities for up and coming artists. Madida said the DKM sound is an opportunity that will eventually unlock doors for many artists. “Our sound is simply house instrumentals mixed with pertinent lyrics that have sing-along hooks.”
According to Madida, the other reason for bringing DKM into the limelight was to come up with a sound that even an ordinary DJ would be able to mix into their set. “The problem with kwaito is that the tempo is a bit slow from that of house and it becomes difficult for DJs to mix such songs with what they are playing. DKM fills the gap, offering DJs a kwaito sound that they can easily mix with a house song,” concluded Madida.
For Black Coffee, DKM can be identified by the house music influences and strong kwaito style lyrics. According to the gifted producer, DKM uses a tempo that is normally used for house music. “DKM tempos go even above 125 beat per minute, which is too fast for kwaito,” he said. According to Black Coffee, although DKM lyrics are kwaito based they are also different in that artist don’t say the same verses or statements over and over. “DKM has revolutionised the kwaito scene, it has forced other artists to start writing lyrics that make sense and that are not repetitive.” Lastly, when it comes to the demand of this style, he said people in clubs and radios always ask for DKM songs, being “the in sound at the moment,” he concluded.
From the words of the man himself, L’vovo Derrango said whenever he does a song; he blends real life into his compositions. “In my music, I make sure that there are certain issues that I talk about so that it can be a lot easier for people to relate to what I am singing about,” he said.
When asked what differentiates his music from the rest, he replied; “My songs have a sing-along feel. If you hear me singing for the first time, the second time you see me on stage, you will sing along with me because my lyrics are catchy and easy to relate to”. It is true that DKM has hit the industry hard and is making most producers and artists’ panel-beat their sound accordingly.
With the response that L’vovo received for his 2006 release ‘Derrango’, it is clear that people want a change and have been longing for a different sound. But wait… Not only did L’vovo introduce a new sound, he has also come up with a dance to go along with his compositions called the “Derrango”. It has become clear that whenever the artist is on stage, people anticipate seeing the “Derrango” movement, dancing along and waiting for the man himself to do his magic.

Let DJ Zinhle rock you!

Dannhauser born, Zinhle Jiyane is a female house music DJ who is making people dance to her tune. If you’ve never believed the saying, being in the right place at the right time, then this DJ is proof enough. It’s been only a few years since Zinhle got into the DJing world, but already she has become one of the few female DJs who has so far created a good image and name for herself.
Zinhle’s love for DJing started in 2004 when she’d mess around with her brother’s DJing sound system he co-own with his friends. Like a joke, her first unofficial gig was when she went to an event with her brother to help set up the sound system. After everything was setup, the DJ who was billed to play was late. Zinhle then stepped to the stage and played a few house songs while waiting for the DJ.
This was the beginning of a promising DJing career! Soon after she finished playing, those attending the event started calling her a DJ – and the sister just rode the waves. But for someone of her age, already she’s being associated with heavyweights DJs like Oscar ‘Oskdio’ Mdlongwa. But wait… What is it that Zinhle did to get her name out?
She said back then when she started, females were not confident enough and didn’t have a strong belief that they could rock like any DJ. “I think when I started; I decided that I would be in everyone’s face, I wanted to be everywhere and be in front of the right people.” Zinhle said being where one wants to be is about networking, projecting one self in the right direction and having confidence in what one does. “We are female DJs and we have a point to prove.”
Commenting on the challenges she faced as she was building up her career, she said one challenge that caused a lot of headaches was not being given a chance to showcase her capabilities. “People don’t have faith in female DJs; we quite often get undermined because people think we are not capable of doing what male DJs do.”
Talking about the strategies she has used to break into the industry, she said when she began with her mission she realized that there was an opportunity to blow up immediately – especially if doing it the right way. What right way was she referring to? For Zinhle, she realized that to get where she wanted to be she would firstly need an opportunity to DJ and as soon as she got that she had to then network with the relevant people.
So far, the DJ said she has created an image that people are able to associate with good things. She has strived to always make people relate her name with quality. “I don’t want people to say ohhh its DJ Zinhle, she’s looking great today. I want them to say, it’s DJ Zinhle and she’s definitely going to rock.” She said people must not feel pity for female DJs; they need to expect the best from them because there is nothing different with what they are doing than what males do.
There is no doubt that Zinhle has capitalized on what has come her way, and on that route she met Oskido, who she still works with to this stage. Though working with Oskido has opened many doors for this DJ, above all, she has the talent; she can work the crowd with her DJing and song selection skills. “I’ve managed to build a foundation for myself; I always apply quality to my work because it pays my bills. I’ve managed to convince people that I’m good at what I do because I know I do it to my best.”

dj china

China's passion for mixing started in the late 90's when he first became friends with ' DJs Mbuso and Claude, who were already well on their way to DJ stardom. Their influence, combined with the likes of big name DJs at that time, Christos and Smalls inspired China to start his own DJ career in “99”.
After two years of mixing off tapes he made the big jump to buying vinyl and developing his own style. Shortly thereafter he teamed up with close friend Claude, who had been a popular hip-hop DJ till that point, and together DJs China and Claude started making a name on the local house scene. Their turntable partnership became infamous, with an ever-growing fan base that followed the two wherever they played.
In 2002 China decided that spinning records was to be his future, and for the next 3 years he spent at least 4 hours a day mastering his art behind the decks and that he did!
Through their partnership, China and Claude started defining their own personal tastes, with each taking to a slightly different style of house. While Claude preferred the sweeter, vocal, happy house, china took to the deeper, more soulful, Westcoast style house, through which China has been said to “Tell a story in his DJ set's”. The DJ pairing has led to great solo opportunities for both China and Claude, but they still enjoy rocking the crowd back-to-back whenever possible.
In 2003 the legendary Club Carnalita opened its doors, and so with its co-owners Vinny Da Vinci and Christos took China under their wing, giving him musical guidance and regular DJ sets alongside some of the biggest names in the country. As China's reputation started growing as one of the early members of the Soul candi DJ crew, he started playing more frequently across the Jo’burg club circuit. China thrilled crowds at venues through out the city such as Carfax,115,Rock ‘n Roll,Groove Bar,Urban Note, Carnalita,Capitol Records,88, Paradigm,C3 and Rhino Bar
W'hile his fast-growing DJ career saw China share the decks with superstar internationals such as Jojo Flores and Lil Louis Vega, he still likes to keep in touch with his roots by returning to play at house parties and smaller events back where it all started, in areas like Mafikeng and Pretoria.
Finally 2006 will see China release his first ever compilation under long time friend, DJ Mbuso's newly formed record label Phezulu Records. Local audiences have been eagerly awaiting DJ China’s first compilation offering, and he promises not to disappoint!

DJ Sgqemeza's gossip angered Maskand Legend

Maskandi Legend Bhekumuzi Luthuli has shifted his fight from his long time rival also Maskandi musician, Thokozani Langa to a radio Personality, Ukhozi FM’s Sipho Mbatha. Ezintsha zithi Mr. Luthuli has promised to beat the hell out of Sipho Mbatha affectionately known as DJ Sgqemeza. This comes after the host of a new slot on Ukhozi fm’s “kusazobamnandi show” is believed to have “embarrassed” Luthuli on his frequent gossip feature. The show is aired on Saturdays between 09h00-12h00 with gossip feature rated as one of the tuning inn factor. On the 06th of October 2007 Sgqemeza cited on air the incident happened in Nongoma on the 30th Of September 2007 whereby Luthuli initially refused to perform allegedly because his rival and the Zululand homeboy Thokozani Langa performed first. Among other things Luthuli mentioned was the issue of a live performance as compared to a CD miming. Luthuli disappointed thousands of fans by only performing two tracks of which some had scratches on them and told fans he wasn’t gonna perform well. “Bengizele ukuzonijabulisa kodwa manje sengizoniculela lemfishimfishi le enizoyibuka, ningangibuzi ukuthi yini, sengicula ingoma yokugcina, yiyo lemfishifishi engizoniculela yona”. People were amazed and confused as all artists performed their 45 minutes as per organizer’s directive. Luthuli only performed the maximum of ten minutes that left his fans confused about his action. The following week Mbatha included the incident on his gossip feature as a result Luthuli promised ukuzibambela mathupha ku Mbatha. Asked about the looming hostility between the two, DJ Sgqemeza laughed. “Look mina, I’ve got quite lots of things to worry about, the issue of who is threatening who akungisabisi neze, there are so many people I did gossips about, I mean really gossips; they never offered ukungishaya. But uma ubaba u-Luthuli ecabanga ukuthi that’s a solution, lokho ngumbono wakhe. Moreover mina I was doing justice by not denying people information, abantu should understand ukuthi if you start ukuba yi-celebrity or a public figure, yonke into oyenza emphakathini you are responsible for yona. So it’s kinda like a message that ziphathe kahle in public izingane zethu zibheke wena and the media watchdogs’ bakubhekile futhi. If Luthuli is available I can have him on my show coz I believe he has a right of reply. Osaziwayo should learn and understand that whateva is bothering them akuyona into okumele thina bathandi babo basibonise yona e-stage; leave you issues at home or at the gate, uthi umangena e stage ungene sekungumculi wethu esimaziyo nesimthandayo, uma usuphuma you can take your problems uqhubeke nawo. That’s a common sense” concludes Mbatha. We can now reveal that Luthuli had a big heated argument with the organizers whereby his attitude pissed them of. Thokozani Langa, Amageza Amahle, Mfiliseni Magaubane, Bongi Bube, Beezori were among other artists who performed their set as per the directive. They were all paid to perform. Mean while Thokozani Langa and Amageza won at Satma awards, Langa walked away with the Best Male awards while amageza proved to be the best maskandi group. Langa and Luthuli are still at loggerheads with each other; u-Mfokamolo believes that u-Somnandi (Langa) is copping his style.

DJ Cleo is Gay; Says Kelly Khumalo

Over my dead body; I can go out with DJ Cleo, moreover he is Gay”. This was revealed by Afro-pop singer Kelly Khumalo In a hot interview with Ukhozi FM’s 3-6pm’s Ziyakhipha drive home show last night (23-04-2007). Khumalo was responding to the allegations that he is not in speaking terms with his business partner and potential husband Prosper Mkwaiwa. Mkwaiwa is accusing Khumalo of dating DJ Cleo and he suspects they had a “thing” while on trip in Mozambique. In an argument Khumalo further confirmed her allegations as they debated the issue live on air. “DJ Cleo should face the stigma of being a Gay, he can’t deny it coz I even know the name of his gay partner”. Cleophelous Manyane was angry in way that he dropped the phone in the middle of the confrontation. Before he hangs up Cleo advised Kelly to grow up and be responsible for her accusations and he (Cleo) will deal with her (Kelly) in his own way. The self acclaimed Virgin is no stranger to controversy. She broke-up with Speedy earlier last year in a period of less than two months she got (engaged) to boyfriend, actor Nathi Ndlovu. Their romance though didn't last as they soon called it quits after the last year’s South African Music Awards (SAMA). It is still unknown what changed Ndlovu’s mind, but rumors based on fallacy states, ndlovu was pissed off when two of her previous lovers emerged to deny her 'virgin' status soon after they announced their engagement. Prosper Mkwaiwa is the new man in Khumalo’s life. What do you think of this fight, email info@mbathaps.co.za you comments will appear below…

May yoour soul rest in peace Lucky Dube we'll miss u

INGOGO VILLAGE, South Africa (Reuters) - Thousands of fans bade an emotional farewell on Sunday to South Africa's top reggae star Lucky Dube, whose murder in an apparent botched carjacking stunned even a nation hardened to violent crime.
Rastafarians and members of the African Shembe Christian church to which Dube belonged were prominent in the crowds who thronged to his rural home for his funeral.
Local musicians and fans from across Africa sang hymns and paid tribute to South Africa's biggest-selling reggae singer and one of the country's most successful artistes.
His wife Zanele and children broke down in tears as one of Dube's best-known songs played over the loudspeaker at the public ceremony on his farm near the remote village of Ingogo, about 250 km (160 miles) southeast of Johannesburg.
The internationally acclaimed singer, who recorded 22 albums in English, Zulu and Afrikaans and won more than 20 awards in a 25-year entertainment career, was then buried in his garden in a private family ceremony.
The 43-year-old was shot dead in front of his children in a Johannesburg suburb on October 18. Five men have been arrested.
The high-profile killing prompted new calls for a crackdown on violent crime in South Africa, which has one of the highest crime rates in the world.
Police figures show there were nearly 20,000 murders in the year to the end of March, 2.4 percent up on the year before. The number of rapes, carjackings and assaults also remained high.

Introducing Rub A duB

''Rub-A-duB is an exciting new five-member group from South Africa with one of the freshest looks and sounds to come out in recent years. Nothing like them exists in this country. Their music is able to accommodate different types of people and their performance will entertain anybody. The words Rub-A-duB describe a group of people coming together to have a good time in the name of music and that’s exactly what the group plans to deliver whenever you see or hear them. Their story begins with two young men who were able to take advantage of their differences to achieve a common goal. Their names are Tebogo Motsoiri (Bacteria), a Sotho-speaking pantsula dancer, and Melusi Dlamini (Crazy), a Zulu-speaking rapper and break-dancer who had started to play the guitar. They met at a street corner in their township through a mutual friend during one of Crazy’s guitar-practicing sessions. After exchanging some freestyles* they both discovered that they shared a love for music, ragga and dancehall in particular. Source: www.mio.co.za for more info''

''Mzansi’s own Afro-pop Queen, Kelly Khumalo is again at the loggerheads with her former recording label, Bonsai Entertainment for what one assumes to be a ‘breech of contract’. Just to fill you in; Khumalo is alleged to have left Bonsai to establish ProKelly Entertainment with her fiancée, Prosper Mkwaiwa before her contract expired. According to the reports, Khumalo is still signed under Bonsai and owes the label a few releases before she can call it a day with them. But now, the artist has gone and recorded a new project, ‘Siyajabula’ regardless. The album seems to be out or ready to be released, but Bonsai is playing a hectic legal game. It was reported in a Sunday paper that Bonsai has actually gone to the Jozi high court and secured a court interdict stopping Khumalo from releasing her new project. But the move seems to be a little late since publications like MIO have already laid their hands on the album. By the look of things, Khumalo has burnt her bridges and Bonsai is definitely out on a mission and not backing down. And what I can tell is that the sister has opted to also play the game. ‘Siyajabula’ is happening, very hot and irresistible! But the future of it remains uncertain, how sad. Dj Abo!!! on the move

dj abo!!! will be having a tour to the Eastern Cape this festive don't miss him, with best female djs: dj sindy, dj linda and local djs
It's happening for the third year in a row, and it’s bound to be as successful as the previous two occasions. It’s Levi's® Rage for the Revolution, a live music concert that forms part of the Levi's® Red for Life Initiative, the call to action where the public get to hear core HIV messaging from the mouths of their musical heroes. The inaugural event in Cape Town at The Castle and last year’s one at the Bassline in Newtown created a powerful platform for discussion around how HIV and Aids affects South Africa’s youth. And this year’s concert (happening at a mysteriously secret and beautifully unique location somewhere in South Africa) is on the 10th of November 2007 and is destined to take this initiative even further by engaging the audience with a conscious mix of brilliant music and thought-provoking opinions.
And in a world-first, the audience at the concert will be made up entirely of people who’ve been challenged to make the effort and know their status, as the campaign consistently challenges the youth to work it out for themselves. All performing artists will be briefed by the Levi’s® Red for Life team on the truths regarding HIV and Aids, giving them the required knowledge to share with the audience. But it’s not all about being prescriptive. It’s about opening up dialogue, and the bands will be encouraged to share their personal feelings about keeping safe and well with the audience. They will also be asked to get tested as demonstration of solidarity in driving the message.
This year the campaign message will continue from where the previous years left off, making the public aware that it’s imperative to know one’s status and then use this information to plan a healthier, safer life. Knowledge in this case means the power to determine the future. Everyone who gets tested at one of the Levi’s® Red for Life/New Start mobile VCT clinics, which are travelling around the country prior to the concert, will stand a chance of winning two free tickets to Levi’s® Rage For The Revolution. Tickets will be sent via SMS, and those ‘out-of towners’ lucky enough to win tickets will be provided with travel and accommodation to attend the event.
Here they’ll get to see an incredible, diverse line-up that includes The Dirty Skirts, Loyiso, 340ml, Kabelo, Lira and The Parlotones. “We have a long and extensive history of supporting local music,” explains Mike Leslie of Levi Strauss South Africa. “Thus it makes sense to leverage that investment and partner with local musicians to drive a credible and relevant HIV and Aids message to the youth.”
But those that attend won’t be the only ones that get to see the show! To amplify the message, a 1 hour TV Special that covers the event and its build-up will be aired on SABC around World AIDS Day.
This film will use footage from the concert, combined with in-depth interviews with band members and individuals to convey core messaging from the Levi's® Red for Life initiative. 5FM will also compile a ‘highlights package’ from aspects of the campaign and air it during the course of the day, ensuring that the ‘working it out for yourself’ and knowing your status remains top of mind.

May your soul rest in peace Lucky Dube

On the night of Thursday the 18th of October 2007 the South African musical legend, Lucky Dube, lost his life in a hi-jacking in the suburb of Rosettenville.
Dube was such a powerhouse of a musician. In his early days he was a successful Mbaqanga artist in South Africa, but when he turned to Reggae he became truly international. Signed to Gallo records, he released a massive amount of music in his life-time, worked with such superstars as Michael Jackson and was indeed one of South Africa’s most successful musicians.
It breaks my heart that a man whose songs often promoted peace, hope and love had to die in an incident that is drowned in tragedy. Violent crime unsettles the citizens of this country more than anything. It is hard to remain positive about the future when senseless tragedy paints such a bleak picture.
Here I must refer to Lucky Dube’s song, Crime and Corruption, which seems so bitterly ironic now. Here is a passage from the song:
Is it the bodyguards around youIs it the high walls where you liveOr is it the men with the guns around youTwenty four hours a dayThat make you ignore the crying of the peopleFarmers get killed everydayAnd you say it is not that badPolicemen get killed everydayAnd you say it is not that badMaybe if you see it through the eyesOf the victimsYou will join us and fight this

I think to myself how can we fight this Lucky? Shall we make an ever more desperate appeal to government to take drastic action and come up with a zero-tolerance strategy to deal with it? Or should we merely ask that the government and all of SA’s citizens acknowledge that it would seem that crime has become as serious an issue here as HIV Aids. Is the root of the problem complete moral decay, a society that has lost its ethical base, or is it more complex an issue to do with poverty and equality of wealth? Who can we turn to? The government? The police force? Religion? Private security? Ourselves? We surely cannot resort to vigilantism. There is no easy answer. But one thing is for sure, we cannot hide our heads in the dirt like Ostriches. The first step must be to acknowledge that violent crime is unacceptable and can only lead to ruin.
I believe that Lucky would want us to be positive and stand together. He would not want us to become paranoid. Nor would he want us to flee the country, emigrating elsewhere to escape the fear. He, after all, sang and actively fought against apartheid and remained stead-fast until its end so he was surely a man who understood the strength needed to overcome adversity. We look to you in our prayers Lucky.
Over the passed few years too many of our musical greats have passed away tragically. Gitto Baloi, KB, Lebo, Johnny Fourie to name some. When I heard the news of Lucky’s passing, I almost felt that I would spill over with despair. It left me speechless and only now am I able to put together this article.
To Lucky’s family, friends and loved ones, all of us at MIO send our deepest sympathies and condolences during this trying time, we can only imagine how painful it must be. And to you Lucky, may you rest in peace. Your legacy will be lived on through your vast collection of amazing music for a very long time.

If you ever wondered when SAMA award winners – Revolution – might release their next project, wonder no more because the house scene is going to be set on fire this festive season!
MIO is letting the secret out of the bag by confirming that the Alexandra born twin brothers are in studio polishing their follow up album from last year's release “Another level” – which did exceptionally well in the market.
When MIO spoke to the identical twins sometime this year, they were not so sure if they were going to drop a project due to other commitments they had. But by the look of things, the bros changed their mind and are more than ready to throw their magic tunes out to the SA public.
According to George, one half of the duo, the new album can be expected to be available at music retailers in two to three weeks time.
George said that some of the tracks on the new release are songs that were supposed to be on last year's album. “Mfana, there are tracks that were supposed to built into “Another Level”. We wanted to a double CD release last year but that didn't happen, so some of those songs will be on this coming album”.
When asked about the title of the album, George said at this stage they are not sure about what to title it, but revealed that people should expect 15 killer tracks. Don't say we didn't tell you; get ready to dance because the twins are always on top of their game!

DJ Sbu: It Was A Publicity Stunt!

I am in AWE! I went to meet him thinking it was an interview him but it ended up as one lecture I didn't want to end. He was the informed lecturer and I was the keen student. He is THE DJ Sbu and he was teaching me the ins and outs of Mzansi's Media World...WOW!Ok, let me start from the beginning. Once we had secured an interview with DJ Sbu, TVSA ran a competition where a lucky TVSA reader would get an opportunity to interview Sbu with me. Hermza was the lucky winner so the date was set and off I went to Suite 16 to meet Mzansi's Most Celebrated DJ. As I got to the Village Walk parking, I get a call asking where I am coz Sbu is waiting for me already. I panic "Oh no, I wanted him to find me there!" So I race up to Suite 16 and as I walk in, I look around and the waitress kindly informs me "He's sitting outside." I give her a surprised look coz I'm wondering how she knows me and who I'm looking for. I think "Oh well, I have been frequenting the place lately and I'm probably known as the girl who' always here with a celeb!". I walk out to the balcony to join him and there he is, sitting at a corner reading the menu. There wasn't much of a distance between the door and where he was sitting but I walked that distance like I was Naomi Campbell on a ramp. Sbu and I greet, chit chat and after a while I call our winner to check where he is and he says he's running late, I smile wickedly at having time alone with him and start the digging.

And who is DJ Terance?

It took me a while to get to know who Terance Molefe of Soul Candi is and what he does. In the past whenever I had been to visit the DJ at Soul Candi's record shop, he would be either assisting customers or chatting to other visiting DJs, which made it difficult for me to communicate with him. On the successful SoulCandi Session 3 project, Terance's name appeared as one of the three artists involved in the album, compiling and mixing disk one of the three CDs. After listening to disk one, I knew I would have to push aside the punters and DJs so that I could have a chat with the popular DJ.
Now in April 2007, Terence has finally dropped his own project titled, ‘Music Box' – which sounds like a continuation of where he left off with the triple disk. Chatting from the SoulCandi offices, he said ‘Music Box', was supposed to have been released last year but SoulCandi Director, Harael Salkow, asked him to be part of the triple CD SoulCandi Session 3 mix offering three different styles of house music. Not to throw the opportunity away, Terence agreed to be part of the project.
Back in the day Terence and a friend shared the same interest, which was music. One night they saw someone DJing on a local show called Electric Workshop and the love for being a DJ became fertile. “I used to see people DJing but never knew what they were actually doing. The first person I saw spinning vinyl was Ganyani. And from that point, I started collecting records”. The DJ said back then his first step was to collect music before he could start playing.
