TIRA'S NEW GROUP

You know DJ Tira as a top DJ, but he's also a label head and producer. The fruits of his labour will be visible this weekend when his projects Big Nuz and Afro Soul are released. Afro Soul are an Afro Pop group signed to Afrotainment Records, Bug Nuz are on a kwaito tip on their album that features heavy hitting production talent like Black Coffee, DJ Bongz and of course DJ Tira. Why the name for this Durban Kwaito crew, Tira explains, “ Big Nuz comes from Big because they doing big things and NUZ represents the township they from Umlazi next to Durban. Nuz is the number plate for cars from Umlazi. “ Big Nuz is made up of 3 guys Jojo aka Mampintsha, Mzi aka Danger and Sbu aka R Mashesha. Tira continues “The group was formed 2002 when they moved from Durban to Joburg to hustle for a record deal. It’s been a rough road trying to release an album; there is no studio in Joburg they don’t know since they went knocking in all the doors.” Some of the work they’ve since done includes “A jingle for Backstage on e-tv when the sopie was relocating to Joburg in 2002, they then got a chance to perform on Backstage. They continued their hustling in 2003 working with Koloi Lebone and Beatmaker doing songs that were never released. In 2004 Ishmael featured them on a song called Boom Boom. 2006 they release their debut album called “Zozo” under Gallo Records working with the late Kid Mokoena for Why Not Entertainment.” in 2007 I called them back home to work with me. They did a hit track for Durbans Finest called ‘Uyoysholo Wena’ which is still on high rotation on some radio stations. They finally got it right at Afrotainment, Big Nuz dubbed the best lyricists in country their single “Ubala” should continue where Tzozo En Professor, Lvovo left off… 2008 is the year for Big Nuz.” Tira promises, “ Their album 2nd Round Knockout is packed with upbeat grooves to make you dance anytime. “ No wonder Tira’s confident, the album features production by DJ Tira, Shota of Shana, Professor, DJ Clock, DJ Fhiso, Blackcoffee and DJ Bongs. Durban’s house masters even provide rhymes! Tzozo, DJ Sox, Tira feature on the songs
