Thebe

This man has been in the music business for the past! God knows how many years. And he is still dropping hits after hits.. When we think old school Kwaito this gentleman can show these young boys a thing or two.
He dropped the hit album Dia Boa (Ko Philly) back in the 90’s which made him are success overnight. Who am I talking about? Am talking about Kwaito sensation Thebe, but this days he is better known as “The Black Diamond”
When we talked to him about his new album Black diamond, and the reasons as to why he called it Black Diamond. He explained that he has because a full flashed business man, “I am a Black successful men and it is about time I show the world that.”
I have to say that Thebe definitely shows that he is on a league of his own. Who can blame he has been in this industry for years and he keep making good music, year after year? Black diamond has the hit songs like Ugezi,Ungan'bamba , Legayo ,Ayobaness and Zaiya.
In this album Thebe worked with producer Bruce Dope Sebitlo on this Album. Two have been insupportably for as long as we can remember. Thebe and Bruce worked together on his very first album Tempy life, almost 18 years ago. Together they have produced nine successful albums.
On this album Thebe has incorporated more dance music than Kwaito in this album and plans to perform live with, live musicians rather than his usual skanky dancers.
The album is great and it has that old school it will have you moving and shaking what your mother give you I have to give this CD a high 7/10.

DJ Sndara

The dance music scene is growing and because of this enormous growth the dance and house music market is being infiltrated by a lot of noise. Time has come for a true music man to give dance and house music lovers the true satisfaction they have long been yearning for. Do not make a mistake; this is not your normal foot stomping, loud and repetitive beat that does not bring meaning to house music.
Born twenty odd years ago in KwaZulu Natal, Siyanda Sibiya, DJ Sndara has had memorable brush with music from back at home. . “I was still at Primary School and my sisters and I used to sing at church with my brother playing the keyboard,” says Sndara as he recalls his tender age days as a muso. Little did he know that, that was the beginning of bigger things to come in his music career. After finishing his matric Sndara enrolled at a Technikon and this is where a big platform was set for him and this is where his stage name, Sndara, was born. As a member of the now defunct campus radio, MST, Sndara quickly learnt his way around the social scene. He presented an R’nB and soul show, still proving that his relationship music was fate.
After introspection and assessment on the party scene, Sndara, “Mr High Society” inspired to give music lovers and the party one thing it has been lacking; meaningful dance music; music that speaks to the heart and soul, life and true meaning to the party scene. Calling Sndara style of house/ dance as vocal deep house would be an understatement. There is some nostalgia that comes with his sound that will not only make one dance but also feel spiritually rejuvenated.
His latest offering boasts 12 original tracks that are a medley jazzy, true house contemporary. There is a huge element of vocals and very calculated percussion infusion. The songs are original and written with general expression to meet the high society needs.
Entrepreneur and well known DJ, who owns the competitive and established brand activations, public relations & Events company - Beyond Ideas is no fluke, having played all over the world, Brazil and Spain – Ibiza just to mention a few.
For whoever thought good and lyrically meaningful house was dead, they are about to experience a musical rebirth.
For your next over the moon experience, Mr High Society is your definite option!!

ON THE LOW DOWN WITH ANDILE...
What defines you?
My being
If there was an object to represent you, what would that be?
The South African flag
What is your philosophy in life?
Even though your eyes are blinded, your ears blocked, your knees battered and your arms withered. Your heart’s still beating, so what's stopping you?
What is it that you never leave home without?
A prayer
If you were to create a capsule of time, what thing would you put in it?
The little broken pieces of my heart, the evidence of my journey
If you knew your date and time of death, what would you do 5 minutes before you die?
I’d spend it thanking the one person who gave me life in the first place
Which colour dominates your wardrobe?
White
Do you believe in love at first sight?
I don't believe in love, at any sight. But I do believe in lust at first sight.
Who are you having a crush on?
Fix. From MTV.
If you were to write a national anthem, what song would it be and which artist would you rather have singing it?
Why are you copying our feature?...It would be Thabo Mbeki’s “I am an African” speech with Brenda Fassie’s Vulindlela under it
What is it that you will never do?
I will never forget who Andile Nkululeko Ncube is.
One night stands? Your take on them… honestly?
Do we have to stand?
What makes you stare at a person?
Trying to figure out whether her smile lights up her eyes or whether her eyes brighten her smile.

Kelly involved in South African investment scam

American R&B singer Robert Kelly, popularly known as R Kelly, has been formally asked to explain his involvement in an alleged investment scam, the Durban regional court heard on Wednesday.
A Durban woman, Busisiwe Priscilla Zakwe has implicated R Kelly in an alleged investment scam that apparently swindled more than 50 people, many of them pensioners.
Zakwe was arrested in 2005 for allegedly taking thousands of rands from investors by promising them they would benefit from ticket sales if they brought an R. Kelly tour to the country in 2005.
Kelly never appeared in the country, but Zakwe claims she deposited R10.5 million into his account.
State prosecutor, Blackie Swart, said on Wednesday he had written a letter to Kelly’s agent Jason Miller requesting the singer to explain his involvement in the scam.
"I sent an email and also faxed a letter to Kelly’s agent last week. We have not received any response from them yet. We will contact them if they do not respond because we want to deal with this matter urgently,"
Zakwe briefly appeared at Durban Regional Court on Wednesday and the matter was postponed to May 6 because the state wants to add more charges against the accused.
On that date, the state and the defence will meet and exchange documents and set up a new trial date.
From 2005, Zakwe had been facing 41 charges of fraud and last week 10 more victims reported their cases.
"We cannot start the trial due to new developments in this case. The state and the defence need to see documents which were taken from the residence of the accused during a raid," said magistrate Sibusiso Mayeza.
He said another suspect was also going to be charged in connection with the case.
The court was packed when Zakwe appeared in court on Wednesday. Most of the victims are pensioners and according to the charge sheet, some victims were swindled of more than R100 000 each.
Attempts to get hold of Kelly's agent were not immediately successful.

Rumoured Rihanna & Chris Brown sex tape

Rihanna and Chris Brown have reportedly made a sex tape.
The Umbrella singer and her 19-year-old boyfriend - who has been charged with felony assault and making criminal threats following his alleged assault on her last month - are said to have filmed themselves engaging in a series of "kinky" acts.
A source told America's Star magazine: "Chris and Rihanna enjoy an aggressive love life that would shock many people. Rihanna loves dressing up - including as a dominatrix - and role playing. They both have kinky sides."
Rihanna - who reconciled with Chris shortly after their altercation, but is now said to be taking time away from him to contemplate their relationship - has become increasingly concerned the footage could be made public and is desperate to keep it under wraps.
The source added: "Rihanna has no issues with her sexuality. She can be really out there, but she'd be mortified if her friends and family found this out."

Salute to DJ Dino Bravo!

DJ Dino Bravo aka "Your Mama's Favorite DJ" is no stranger to the DJing industry. What one often gets to hear, if Dino's name is in discussion, is that the super DJ is highly skilled when it comes to collaborating songs from different musical styles into a DJing set.
Dino's DJing story started back in the early nineties when he moved to South Africa. While pushing his first passion, he met DJ Fresh while in the mix, who later confessed to having liked Dino's DJing style. Fresh was so moved that he invited Dino to come mix on his then breakfast show on YFM. Given such a platform, the DJ went to Y, loaded with the ammunition and one mission - to destroy. After his mega mix set, he was guaranteed a space to mix on Fresh's show as a resident DJ.
It is no secret that Dino has established himself as versatile DJ. Clearly, when he entered the music industry, he had to push himself. "Fresh introduced me to the market but that was not enough because if you have the talent, you need to have a drive to get out there and show people what you are capable of." One step at a time, Dino believes that for him to finally be where he is today, it's the reward of hard work, talent and driving himself towards things he wanted to achieve in life.
Even though he has been playing for some time, Dino does acknowledge that being different from the rest of the DJs was his main challenge. According to the DJ, nowadays the DJ industry has become very big in such a way that one can pretty much predict what the next DJ will play. So for one to avoid being just another DJ, you need to come up with something that other DJs are not doing.
Asked how he prepares for a set? He quickly laughed and said, "I have passed that stage. Back then I used to prepare but things have changed, I have been DJing for a very long time. What I do most importantly is to go to an event with a lot of music."
A lot of times some DJs add a bit of their favorite songs in the mix, but surprisingly Dino strictly made it clear that besides being Mr. DJ, he is a business man who considers himself very focused. He said when he goes to the gig; he plays music for the people. He reasoned that when he gets bookings; he is not booked so he can play his favorite music but rather puts the people first.
In today's world, it is very difficult to keep up with the game and maintain the standard, which results in some DJs ending up struggling to keep their DJing career alive. But when talking about "Your Mama's Favorite DJ", it's a different story all together. Since his entry into the mainstream, Dino's name is constantly on people's lips. The ability to be versatile is a winner. "When you play one style of music, you limit yourself to the exposure and it can be hard to re-invent yourself. There are always new DJs coming to the industry and what saves me is that the majority of them play one style of music."
